The Baby Signs® Parent Workshop and Sign, Say, and Play Curriculum is a 7 week program designed for parents and babies ages 8-15 months. Week one is a 90 minute parent workshop which will train parents how to sign and talk with their babies. The following six weeks are the Sign, Say, and Play® classes which involves caregivers learning to teach their babies to use signs to communicate before they can talk.
The Baby Sign® Classes are taught by Speech Langauge Pathologists experienced in American Sign Language and certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association.
The six week class is themed based and designed to teach signs in everyday activities including:
Week 1: 90 minute Baby Signs® Parent Workshop
Week 2: Mealtime
Baby Signs® Topic: The "What," "Why," & "How" of the Baby Signs® Program
Baby Minds® Topic: Value of Pretend Play as a Symbolic Activity
Week 3: Bedtime
Baby Signs® Topic: Choosing Signs to teach Babies
Baby Minds® Topic: Value of Pretend Play as a Vocabulary-Rich Activity
Week 4: Bath Time
Baby Signs® Topic: Comprehending and Eliciting Sign from Babies
Baby Minds® Topic: Importance of Following a Child's Lead
Week 5: Dressing
Baby Signs® Topic: Waiting for Signs: Individual Differences
Baby Minds® Topic: Important Role of Language Comprehension
Week 6: My Pets
Baby Signs® Topic: Signing and Combining Words
Baby Minds® Topic: The Many Values of Puzzle Play
Week 7: At the Park
Baby Signs® Topic: The Transition to Words
Baby Minds® Topic: Review of Past Week's Topics
